Immediate flare-up–like reaction of skin tests to betalactams with lymphangitis during drug provocation test

چکیده
Betalactam (BL) antibiotics are the most common cause of drug-induced hypersensitivity reactions (DHR). We present 2 clinical cases patients with suspected immediate BL DHR who underwent drug allergy workup according to standardized diagnostic procedures, including skin tests (STs: prick, prick test, and intradermal [IDTs]) provocation (DPTs).1 ST results became positive after first DPT dose. The gave their consent use deidentified data for research purposes.

Flare up to betalactams.
BACKGROUND The flare up phenomenon has most frequently been described with nickel. Not many cases of flare up to drugs have reported in the literature, however we have reported it with different medications. METHODS AND RESULTS A 31-year-old woman developed an adverse reaction with an antibiotic during her childhood. Prick test with penicillin (100,000 IU/ml), penicilloyl polylysine (PPL), mi...
متن کاملFlare Up Reaction During Provocation Test to Glatiramer Acetate in a Patient With Allergy to Interferon Beta1a
Glatiramer acetate (GA) is a synthetic amino acid polymer, used for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. The most common adverse effect of GA is a skin reaction at the injection site with a probable IgE-mediated mechanism. We report a case of a 45-year-old woman with multiple sclerosis and urticaria to interferon-β1a, who underwent a challenge test to GA. She presented itching wheals at the ...
متن کامل[Immediate and generalized reaction to Montenegro skin test].
The authors describe for the first time a case of immediate and generalized reaction to Montenegro skin test with merthiolated antigen. This reaction consisted of generalized cutaneous rash with pruritus, and was treated with oral bromethazine. The pruritus disappeared an hour after medication and the rash 12 hours later.
متن کاملUsefulness of drug provocation tests in children with a history of adverse drug reaction
PURPOSE There are very few reports of adverse drug reactions (ADR) and almost no study of drug provocation test (DPT) in Korean children. We aimed to assess the role of DPT in children with unpredictable ADRs, and compare the causative drugs and clinical characteristics between detailed history of ADRs and result of DPTs. METHODS We included 16 children who were experienced ADRs referred to p...

BACKGROUND A "nocebo" effect is defined as troublesome symptoms after the administration of placebo. The aim of this study was to determine characteristics of nocebo responses and related factors. METHODS Patients with a reliable history of drug-induced hypersensitivity reactions subjected to placebo-controlled oral drug provocation tests and reacted to placebo, were consecutively included in...
